Kneeling before the Virgin and the Infant Christ are the donors who commissioned the work. The dark and saturated colours of the miniatures are enlivened by the bright red hues of the Virgin's robe and cloak. The dress and facial types of the donors are of considerable interest with regard to ethnography and history of costume.�Miniatyren placeras under den något blygsamt dekorerade kanoniska texterna som fyller ut sidan huvud. På sina knän framför JUngfrun och Jesubarnet finns donatorer som avlönade verket. De mörka och mättade färgerna hos miniatyrerna livas upp med de ljusröda nyanserna hos Jungfruns skrud och kappa. The miniatures in this manuscript are among Taronatsi's best works. In these miniatures the local traditions of Siunik are curiously mixed with tendencies derived from Cilician art.�Miniatyrerna i detta manuskript är bland Taronatsis bästa verk. Tserun belongs to a group of Vaspurakan artists whose work was entirely based on and inspired by the local traditions of book illumination. Tserun had numerous pupils and followers, so that the term "Tserunian style" came to be adopted in specialist literature.�Tserun tillhör en grupp avVaspourakans konstnärer vars verk var helt baserat på och inspirerat av de lokala traditionerna för bokmålning. Tserun hade flera elever och följare, så att begreppet "Tseruniska stilen" kom att antas i speciella litteratur.

In his miniatures, the archaic models are interpreted with a rare sincerity and spontaneity. Canonical motifs are treated by the artist as if seen through the eyes of common people; here this tendency shows in the slightly naive manner in which the righteous are opposed to the sinners.�Ovsian är en typisk representant för den \"populära treden\" i vaspourakanska skolan för bokmålning. The combination of red, blue (or sometimes green) and gold, so typical of Cilician illumination, is supported here by a wide range of delicate pastel tints including pale lilac, soft violet, greyish-blue, ash-grey, cherry-red and light green. The refined colouring imparts a special charm to the picture in which every single detail is perfectly executed.�Den högst uttryckliga karaktären hos denna miniatyr är huvudsaklignen på grund av dess färgsättning, rikt i skuggor och utsökt balanserad. /mtd-cil-148-m.jpg "Although the motif of The Holy Communion (The Eucharist) connected with the theme of The Last Supper was widespread in Armenian fresco painting, it does not often occur in book illustration.<br>The miniature occupies the lower part of the page and, apart from the numerous gold initials, is the only decorative element. The miniature is flanked by draperies, as if to prevent the scene from overflowing onto the margins. The composition of the miniature is strictly balanced by the two symmetrical groups of figures united by the figure of Christ in the middle. The colouring is based on red, blue and gold. The pictorial treatment of the scene, especially in so far as the modelling of faces is concerned, is somewhat schematic and betrays a less competent hand than that which is apparent in The Magi before Herod. Even though the artist employs the more advanced technique of shading, he still resorts to the linear method.�Även om motiven med Nattvarden, kopplad till teman med Jesu sista måltid var utbrett i armenisk freskåmålning, förekommer den inte så ofta i bokmålningar. Miniatyren upptar den nedre delen av sidan och, förutom de otaliga guldinitialerna, är det enda dekorativa elementet. Miniatyren är flankerad av draperier som om för att hindra scenen från att spilla över till marginalerna. Miniatyrens komposition är strikt balanserad av de två symmetriska grupperna av figurer förenade av Kristus figur i mitten. Färgen är baserad på röd, blå och guld. Den bildliga behandlingen av scenen, speciellt vad det gäller modelleringen av ansikten, är något schematisk och avslöjar en mindre kompetent hand än den som producerade De vise männen hos Herodes. The elaborate ornamental designs are executed with great skill and ingenuity. The ornamentation is based on palmettes which fill the rectangular headpiece of the Canon table and decorate the bases and capitals of the columns which, unlike many other khorans in this manuscript, do not imitate the texture of stone, but are treated schematically as bands of gold covered by interlacing red and blue narrow stripes. The characteristic movements of the birds filling the top and outer margins are rendered in an accurate and lifelike manner.�Den glada atmosfären som genomtränger bilden skapas av den briljanta färgskalan av blått, grönt och rött med inslag av guld. Den genomtänkta usmyckningsdesignen är utförda med stor skicklighet och genialitet. Utsmyckningen är baserad på palmetterna som fyller det rektangulära övertyscket av kanoniska texterna och dekorerar baserna och kapitalerna hos kolumnerna som, olik många andra khoraner i detta manuskript, ej imiterar texturen hos sten, men behandlas schematiskt som band a guld täckt av sammanflätade röda och blåa nära band.
