The large-scale figure of the seated Virgin tends to fill the entire page. The deep, dark colours of her robes make a striking contrast with the pale pink tone of the background, so that the latter acquires a light airiness, in spite of the intricate ornamentation patterns.<br>This type of representation - a full-face frontal view of the Virgin and Child - was frequent in early Christian art and can be found in many Armenian wall reliefs of the fourth to seventh centuries.�Miniatyren visar den monumentala kavaliteten som är typisk för många scener i manuskriptet (jmfr. Bebådelsen s. 25). Den stora figuren av den sittande Jungfrun tenderar att fylla hela sidan. De djupa mörka färgerna hos hennes skrud skapar en slående kontrast mot den bleka rosa ronen i bakgrunden, så att den senare får en lätt tunnhet, trots de invecklade utsmyckningsmönstren. The decline of Cilician miniature art towards the end of the thirteenth century is quite evident in this manuscript. It concerns the Evangelists' portraits and to an even greater extent the decor of the illuminated folios. The figures in the miniatures lose their suave elegance, the colours are no longer rich or refined. At the same time the main principles of figural and facial treatment and the traditions of the compositional arrangement of the scenes, inherited from the 1280s, remain almost unchanged.�Nedgången hos kilikisk miniatyr mot slutet av 1200-talet är rätt uppenbart i detta manuskript. Det rör sig om evengelisternas porträtt och i en ännu högre grad om dekoren av den illustrerade sidorna. Figurerna i miniatyrerna förlorar sin milda elegans, färgerna är inte längre rika eller förfinade. Samtidigt kvarblir principerna för figurernas och ansiktenas behandling och traditionerna för det kompositionella arrangemanget hos scenen, ärvt från 1280-talet, så gott som intakt.

The miniatures in this manuscript are among Taronatsi's best works. In these miniatures the local traditions of Siunik are curiously mixed with tendencies derived from Cilician art.�Miniatyrerna i detta manuskript är bland Taronatsis bästa verk. The restrained colour range is based on a combination of red (the prevalent colour), blue and gold. The treatment of details demonstrates the perfect taste of the illuminator. He supplements the intricate ornamental patterns with numerous figures of birds (cocks, hoopoes, etc.) and gives the columns' capitals the shape of ox or lion heads. Both the birds and the animal heads, despite their apparent naturalism, have a purely decorative colouring.�Konstnären ger företräde till storskaliga element och design och kolumnerna hos hans khoran är kortare än vanligt. Den begränsade färgpaletten är baserad på en kombination av rött (den dominerande färgen), blått och guld. Behandlingen av detaljer demonstrerar den perfekta smaken hos konstnären. Han kompletterar det invecklade dekorativa mönstret med flera figurer av fåglar (tuppar, härfåglar etc.) och ger kolumnernas kapitäl formen av en oxes eller ett lejons huvud. Både fåglarnas och djurens huvud, trots deras uppebara naturalism, har en ren dekorativ färgsättning.")
