There are two figures in the left-hand margin of the Canon table, outside the arch of the khoran; the one below is a man carrying a large fish. The inscription beside this figure reads: "Sheranik, when you come, bring fish." This would seem to suggest that the figures in the margin represent real people, their rich attire being a sign of wealth and prominent social position.�Det finns två figurer på den vänstra delen av kanontexten, utanför khoranens valv; den undre är en man som bär en stor fisk. Skriften vid sidan om av figuren lyder: "Sheranik, när du kommer, ta med fisk." Detta kan föreslå att figurerna i marginalen representerar verkliga personer, medan deras rika beklädnad antyder deras välstånd och höga sociala ställning.

The miniature resembles an informal genre scene representing the warm welcome given by the citizens to a guest of their city. The illusion of "real life" is enhanced by the similarity of the architectural background to actually existing buildings: the tall three-storeyed tower on the left is strongly reminiscent of the bell-tower at the monastery of Haghpat.�Miniatyren liknar en informell genrescen som representerar det varma välkomnande som invånarna gav till stadens gäst. Illusionen om "verkligt liv" förstärks av likheten mellan den arkitektoniska bakgrunden och de faktiskt existerande byggnaderna: det höga trevångs höga tornet på den vänstra sidan påminner starkt om klocktornet hos Haghpat klostret.
