Tserun belongs to a group of Vaspurakan artists whose work was entirely based on and inspired by the local traditions of book illumination. Tserun had numerous pupils and followers, so that the term "Tserunian style" came to be adopted in specialist literature.�Tserun tillhör en grupp avVaspourakans konstnärer vars verk var helt baserat på och inspirerat av de lokala traditionerna för bokmålning. Tserun hade flera elever och följare, så att begreppet "Tseruniska stilen" kom att antas i speciella litteratur.

Instead of the usual method of incorporating the illustrations into the text, adopted by most Cilician artists, Sargis Pidzak resorts to a compromise between the Oriental custom of grouping all the illustrations together and placing them before the text of the manuscript in a separate fascicle, and the Byzantine tradition of preceding each of the four Gospels with a full-page illustration: he places two miniatures before each of the Gospels. Apart from these, the manuscript contains a great number of marginal historiated miniatures which form a kind of reduced illustrative cycle. Thus, the motif of The Annunciation is represented only by the figure of the archangel, the episode of The Presentation in the Temple by an outline of a small church, etc.�Istället för den vanliga metoden för inarbetnignen av illustrationer in i texten, använt av de flesta kilikiska konstnärer, Sargis Pidzak använder sig av en kompromiss mellan orientaliska seder för gruppering av alla illustrationer tillsammans och deras placering innan manuskriptets text i en separat fascikel, och den bysantinska traditionen för föregången av var och en av de fyra evangelierna med fullsidiga illustrationer: han placerar två minatyrer innan varje evangelium. Föruom dessa, innehåller manuskriptet ett stort antal illustrerade miniatyrer i marginalen, vilka formar en sorts reducerad illustrativ cykel. Därmed presenteras motiven för Jungfrus bebådelse endast med figuren för ärkeängeln, episoden för Presentationen i templet, genom konturen av en liten kyrka etc.

The ugly faces of Judas and the guards undoubtedly reflect the artist's negative attitude to this group of characters. The compositional principle of the miniature consists in the strictly balanced rhythmical arrangement not only of the forms and movements of the figures, but also of the colours.�Precis som in Trettio silvermynt, av samma mästare, (P1.40), sammansättningen av denna scen gränsar till den groteska och samtidigt kännetecknas av naiva rakheten hos folkkonst. De fula ansikten hos Judas och vakterna reflekterar otvivelaktigt konstnärens negativa attityd gentemot denna group av personer. The role of architectural background is reduced to a minimum, the small towers in the left background corner of each of the two miniatures being treated in a summary manner and resembling more the backs of the Evangelists' chairs than buildings. This lack of interest in the architectural background was typical of the Hromkla school in general, and was shared even by Toros Roslin himself. Although his treatment of background was on the whole more detailed, it never played such an important role in his compositions as in the miniatures produced in other Cilician centres. The figures of the Evangelists show the artist's attempt to model the body shapes by means of shading. At the same time, both miniatures reveal his interest in linear design which is manifest in the sharp delineation of the folds of the garments and in the somewhat graphical character of representation. The ornamental design of the frame is evocative of cloisonne enamel.�Båda kompositionerna är dominerade av storskaliga figurer av evengelisterna. Rollen hos den arkitektoniska bakgrunden är reducerad till ett minimum, de små tornen i det vänstra bakgrundshörnet av varje miniatyr är behandlade i ett kortfattat sätt och liknar mer baken på evengelisternas stolar än byggnaderna. Bristen på intresset hos den arkitektoniska bekgrunden var typisk hos Hromklaskolan i allmänhet och användes även av Toros Roslin själv. Även om hans behandling av bakgrunden var i sin helhet mer detaljerad, spelade den inte någon större roll i hans kompositioner som i miniatyrer producerade i andra kilikiska center. Figurerna hos evangelisterna visar konstnärens försök att forma kroppsformerna genom skuggning. Samtidigt avslöjar både miniatyrerna hans intresse i linjära design som manifesteras i den skapra avbildningen av klädernas veck och den någon grafiska karaktären hos representationen. Den dekorativa designen hos ramen påminner om cloisonnéemalj.")

The dramatic effect of the scene is produced by the vigorous movements of Christ and Adam whom he is taking out of hell, by the dynamic treatment of the draperies, caught, as it were, in the speed of movement, and also of the landscape and of certain minor details, hands in particular.<br>Incidentally, the colouring, composed of quiet and delicate shades of pink, lilac, pale green and light blue set off by gold, does not seem to support the dramatism of the composition. Although the figures are presented in complex foreshortenings and the artist employs the technique of tonal modelling, the treatment of the scene, as of all the other miniatures in the manuscript, remains on the whole flat.�Trots mångfalden hos figurer som fyller miniatyren, är dess kompositionella arrangemang märkvärdigt för sin klarhet. Den dramatiska effekten hos scenen produceras av de vigurösa rörelserna hos Kristus och Adam som han tar ut ur helvetet, genom den dynamiska behandlingen av draperier, fångad, som om det vore i en snabb rörelse och även av lanskapet och vissa mindre detaljer, speciellt händer. Som ett sammanträffande, verkar färgsättningen, komponerad av mjuka och delikata nyanser av rosa, lila, blek grön och ljusblå mot guld, inte stödja dramatiken hos kompositionen. Även om figurerna är presenterade i komplexa förminskningar och konstnären använder tekniken om tonal modellering, förblir behandlingen av scenen, som alla andra miniatyrer i amnuskriptet, platt i sin helhet.")

The 1332 Gospels belongs to the small group of Crimean/Armenian manuscripts whose illumination was inspired by the art of the Palaeologan Renaissance.
The miniatures in the manuscript easily fall into two groups representing the work of two different masters, one of them probably being Grigor Sukiasants who is mentioned in the colophon as the scribe of the book.�1332 års Evengeliebok tillhör den lilla gruppen av Krim-armeniska manuskript vilkas målninagr inspirerades av konsten hos Palaeologiska renässansen. Miniatyrerna i gruppen faller enkelt i två grupper, representerade av verket tillhörande två olika mästare, avvilka en var förmodligen Grigor Sukiasants som omnämns i kolofonen som författare till boken.
