The miniatures in this manuscript are among Taronatsi's best works. Certain characteristics, however, rule out the possibility of attributing the manuscript to a Cilician master. Such an interpretation, unusual for medieval art, can be traced back to early Eastern Christian models. Simeon Ardjishetsi was the first to broaden the range of motifs included in the menological cycle. This pictorial cycle, with certain variations, is to be found in the Vaspourakan illuminated manuscripts up to the fifteenth century.�Simeon Ardjishetsi var den första som beredde spektrumet av motiv som inkluderas i menologiska cyckeln. Its most remarkable feature is the presence of Christ risen from the dead, together with the soldiers guarding the tomb and with the Holy Women arriving at the sepulchre. A similar iconographic version, rare in Eastern Christian art, is to be found in the Simon Psalter, a Russian illuminated manuscript dating from the thirteenth century (known also as the Khludov Psalter, after its nineteenth-century owner Alexei Khludov, a Moscow merchant and collector), and also in some Syrian manuscripts. S. Der Nersessian regards this scene as an example of amalgamation of two or more motifs, typical of the Vaspourakan school.�Miniatyrens ikonografi är lik den hos Återuppståndelse-scenen i 1038 års Evangelium (MS6201).
