The illusion of \"real life\" is enhanced by the similarity of the architectural background to actually existing buildings: the tall three-storeyed tower on the left is strongly reminiscent of the bell-tower at the monastery of Haghpat.�Miniatyren liknar en informell genrescen som representerar det varma välkomnande som invånarna gav till stadens gäst. The figures are arranged almost symmetrically, in a frieze-like fashion, thus forming a well-balanced composition. The animation of the faces, the poses and gestures of the characters suggest that the artist sought to enliven the canonical scheme with details borrowed from real life.�Olik de flesta andra illustrerade miniatyrer i manuskriptet, tar denna scen inte upp en hel sida, utan är placerad under texten, i den nedre delen av sidan. Figurerna är arrangerade nästan symmetriska på ett frisliknande sätt och formar därmed en välbalanserad komposition. Teckningen hos ansiktena, poseringarna och kroppshållningen hos karaktärerna föreslår att konstnären sökte att liva upp det kanoniska schemat med detaljer lånade från det verkliga livet.")

Contrary to the predominant iconographic convention the Infant Christ is depicted as stepping forward to meet St. Simeon. A similar archaic treatment is to be found in a carved ivory diptych dating from the seventh or eighth century in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The ornamentation decorating the pillars and the dome of the temple plays a key role in the miniature.�De tolv rapphönsen som krönar templet symboliserar apostlarna. I motsats till den dominerande ikonografiska konventionen är Jesubarnet avbildad som framlutande för att möta S:t Simeon. En liknande arkaisk behandling kan hittas i en uthuggen elfenbensdypikt från 600- eller 700-talet i Victoria and Albert Musuem, London. The space within the framework, instead of containing the text of the letter of Eusebius or the Canon tables, is filled with an ornamental pattern of crescent-shaped, pointed and swirling leaves. The pattern is similar to those used in the Moush Homilarium and in the 1201 Gospels and is also evocative of the wall reliefs in the monastery of Airivank where the manuscript was produced.�Behandlingen av khoranen är något ovanligt. Utrymmet mellan ramverket, istället för att omfatta texten hos brevet från Eusebius eller texten för kanonskriften, är fylld med ett utsmyckningsmönster av halvmånsformade, spetsiga och virvlande löv. Mönstret är likt de som använts i Moush homilarium och i 1201 års Evangelium och påminner även om väggrelieferna i klostret Airivank där manuskriptet porducerades.")
