Document Date: 0-The headpiece of the khoran contains a half-length portrait of Carpianus (on another folio, there is a similar portrait of Eusebius). According to S. Der Nersessian, such portraits placed inside medallions are "a typically Armenian feature which does not occur in Byzantine or other East Christian manuscripts" (S. Der Nersessian, Armenian Manuscripts, Washington, 1963, p. 20). The ornamental design is derived from eleventh- and twelfth-century models.�Överstycket över khoranen innehåller ett halvlängt porträtt av Carpianus (på en annan sida finns ett liknande porträtt av Eusebius). Enligt S. Der Nersessian, är liknande porträtt placerade i medaljonger "ett typiskt armeniskt drag som inte förekommer i bysantinska eller andra österländska kristna manuskript" (S. The buildings, although schematically treated, resemble actually existing structures. The same applies to the chair on which the Evangelist is seated: similar wooden chairs are still in use in Armenian villages.�Evangelisten är avbildad i enlighet med konventionella riktlinjer antagna vid Siuniks skriptorium mot en vägg som separerar figurerna från byggnaderna som syns i bakgrunden. Byggnaderna, trots det schematiska behandlingen, påminner faktiskt om verkliga strukturer. Document Date: 0-The miniatures in the manuscript betray the influence of Cilician art embracing both iconography and technique. The ample use of gold is also a distinctly Cilician feature. Certain characteristics, however, rule out the possibility of attributing the manuscript to a Cilician master. Such is, for example, the free and sweeping manner of painting resulting in a somewhat generalized treatment of forms, typical of the north-east of historical Armenia.�Miniatyrerna i manuskriptet avslöjar inflytandet av kilikiansk konst som omfattar både ikonografin och tekniken. Den rikliga användningen av guld är också ett välkänt kilikianskt drag. Vissa särdrag utesluter dock möjligheten att manuskriptet kan vara producerat av ett kilikianskt mästare.
