The miniatures in this manuscript are among Taronatsi's best works. Contrary to the predominant iconographic convention the Infant Christ is depicted as stepping forward to meet St. Simeon. A similar archaic treatment is to be found in a carved ivory diptych dating from the seventh or eighth century in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The ornamentation decorating the pillars and the dome of the temple plays a key role in the miniature.�De tolv rapphönsen som krönar templet symboliserar apostlarna. I motsats till den dominerande ikonografiska konventionen är Jesubarnet avbildad som framlutande för att möta S:t Simeon. En liknande arkaisk behandling kan hittas i en uthuggen elfenbensdypikt från 600- eller 700-talet i Victoria and Albert Musuem, London. Instead of the usual method of incorporating the illustrations into the text, adopted by most Cilician artists, Sargis Pidzak resorts to a compromise between the Oriental custom of grouping all the illustrations together and placing them before the text of the manuscript in a separate fascicle, and the Byzantine tradition of preceding each of the four Gospels with a full-page illustration: he places two miniatures before each of the Gospels. Apart from these, the manuscript contains a great number of marginal historiated miniatures which form a kind of reduced illustrative cycle. Thus, the motif of The Annunciation is represented only by the figure of the archangel, the episode of The Presentation in the Temple by an outline of a small church, etc.�Istället för den vanliga metoden för inarbetnignen av illustrationer in i texten, använt av de flesta kilikiska konstnärer, Sargis Pidzak använder sig av en kompromiss mellan orientaliska seder för gruppering av alla illustrationer tillsammans och deras placering innan manuskriptets text i en separat fascikel, och den bysantinska traditionen för föregången av var och en av de fyra evangelierna med fullsidiga illustrationer: han placerar två minatyrer innan varje evangelium. Föruom dessa, innehåller manuskriptet ett stort antal illustrerade miniatyrer i marginalen, vilka formar en sorts reducerad illustrativ cykel. Därmed presenteras motiven för Jungfrus bebådelse endast med figuren för ärkeängeln, episoden för Presentationen i templet, genom konturen av en liten kyrka etc.

Although the miniature is not limited by the usual rectangular frame, its composition is well-defined and complete in itself due to the compact arrangement of the figures which fit so neatly into the general scheme that the spaces between them (filled in with gold) are very small. The left lower part of the miniature shows the episode of The Cutting-off of the Ear of the High Priest's Slave.�Denna och den omedelbart efterföljande reproduktionen visar den tvåsidiga bilden innehållande illustrationer om episoder från Förrådandet och Kristus rättegång hos högsta prästerna. Även om miniatyren inte begränsas till den vanliga rektangulära ramen, dess kompisition är väldefinierad och komplett tack vare det kompakta arrangemanget av figurerna som passar så väl in i det generella schemat som utrymmet mellan dem (utfyllt med guld) är mycket små. The name of Kirakos is associated with the appearance of a new trend in the Vaspurakan school of book painting. The main distinctive feature characterizing works by Kirakos and his followers consists in the emphasis on linear treatment.�Namnet Kirakos är associerat med uppkomsten av en ny trend hos vaspourakanska skolan för bokmålning. Den huvudsakliga särdraget som kännetecknar Kirakos verk och det hos hans efterföljare är betoningen på den linjära kompositionen.

Such crosses form a prominent feature of the art of Eastern Christendom, especially of Syrian art. In many cases the ornamental and compositional treatment of the crosses is evocative of Armenian khatchkars.�Representationer av kors uppresta av utsmyckade baser och dekorerade med blommotiv eller med inflätade band hittas vanligen i marginalerna hos armeniska mauskript, medan helsidiga kors förekommer endast i de tidiga kända böckerna (800- och 900-talen).
